Professional adaptation

General presentation

Professional adaptation training is aimed at employees who are assuming new management functions (inspectors, school and university administrative advisors (CASU), institution heads, operational employees, etc.). This includes employees who are:

  • taking on managerial responsibilities for the first time
    (e.g. a teacher who becomes eligible for a post of local education authority inspector for secondary schools (IA-IPR);
  • changing posts
    (e.g. an inspector for a specific subject who becomes an advisor to the chief education officer);
  • joining the national education system for the first time
    (e.g. a civil administrator nominated to the post of secretary-general for a local education authority).

Training objectives

To ensure the employees concerned are ready to assume the functions of their new roles.

Organisational principles

With the focus on familiarising the employees with the demands of their new posts, these training programmes are generally short (10 to 15 days) and can be delivered in two forms:

  • training modules chosen from the initial training plans for inspectors, school and university advisors and/or school leaders,
  • specific training modules.

Target public

  • Inspectors and school and university administrative advisors named on the roster of eligible employees
  • Newly appointed local education authority inspectors – directors of local education services (IA-DSDEN) and deputy education authority inspectors
  • Newly appointed advisors to chief education officers
  • Newly appointed directors of information and guidance centres (CIO)
  • Secretaries-general of local education authority inspection (SGIA), of local education authorities (SGA) and their deputies, and of scientific and cultural public institutions (SGEPSCP).
  • Accountants in public secondary schools and universities.
